ATOM Donates MMK 53.8 Million for Flood Relief, Providing Urgent Aid to 2,000 Households in Kayin and Mon States

Yangon, Myanmar, 17 August 2023 – In the wake of devastating floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains that have left a trail of destruction in various parts of Myanmar, ATOM has announced a one-time donation of MMK 53.8 million kyats to provide essential relief items to the flood-affected victims in Kayin and Mon states.

The aftermath of the monsoon rains has led to the displacement of families from their homes in Kayin and Mon states, leaving many without access to sufficient food and clean drinking water. ATOM’s donation, which will focus on providing essential food items, water purification tablets, and electrolytes, is expected to directly benefit approximately 2,000 households in the affected areas. Specifically, 1,000 households in Bilin Township, Mon State, and another 1,000 households in Hpa-An, the capital city of Kayin State, will receive support.

ATOM’s dedicated employees from Yangon, including its regional teams in Mon and Kayin states, have been overseeing the efficient delivery of the aid items to ensure they reach those in need swiftly and effectively. ATOM will continue to assess the situation and consider extending additional humanitarian assistance as needed.
